FCA is recalling 4.8-million vehicles including the Dodge Charger, Dodge Challenger, Chrysler 300, Jeep Grand Cherokee, Ram 1500 and several other popular models over a concern that the cruise control system could get stuck in the set position and it will not shut off – potentially leading to an accident if the system will not deactivate as expected.

It was recently announced that the Brampton Assembly Plant was ending production of right hand drive vehicles, effectively ending any chance of the Australian market getting the Hellcat Hemi in the Chrysler 300, the Dodge Challenger or the Dodge Charger as the company prepares to phase out those brand Down Under.

The internet is ablaze today with news of a possible Hellcat Hemi-powered Chrysler 300 SRT, but I really don’t expect that we will see a Hellcat 300 in the United States – even though creating such a vehicle would be relatively simple for the FCA engineers.

Spy shots showing what appears to be a newer Chrysler 300 SRT wearing the drag radial tires from the new Dodge Demon have ignited an inferno of rumors about a widebody Hellcat Chrysler 300 – but I think that this is just a current foreign-market SRT 300 with some lightweight wheels and drag radial tires.

FCA has announced a voluntary recall of select all-wheel drive Dodge Charger and Chrysler 300 sedans over a concern that the front driveshaft bolts could work themselves loose, decreasing vehicle control and increasing the likelihood of an accident – although there have been no accidents of injuries stemming from this issue.

After Sergio Marchionne made a comment that the next generation Chrysler 300 sedan could be built alongside the new Chrysler Pacifica minivan, it seems possible the next 300 could be built on a front wheel drive chassis with a heavy emphasis on all wheel drive versions – allowing the company to better differentiate the 300 and the Dodge Charger.

The Chrysler Group has issued a recall of the Dodge Charger, the Chrysler 300 and the Jeep Grand Cherokee for no other reason than the owners being unable to recognize whether the vehicle is in Park due to the unusual shifters featured in those vehicles.
