Judge rules that Toyota must disclose recall settlement terms

Toyota Motor Corp reportedly settled with the first of what could be a great many lawsuits from consumers against the automaker for their lethal recall practices and when the settlement was achieved, Toyota requested that the terms of the settlement not be disclosed publicly but Judge Anthony J. Mohr has ruled that Toyota must indeed disclose the terms of the agreement.

A Toyota press announcement responds to recent critics who equated a late November, 2010, technical service bulletin with another recall for accelerator pedal problems. While it displays a sensitivity to the issue, the Toyota response explains the nature and intention of the technical service bulletin in question.

Toyota issues a TSB for vehicles previously recalled for unintended acceleration

Toyota has issued a technical service bulletin to dealerships explaining that on some of the Camry and Avalon sedans which received the “fix” for unintended acceleration, the bolts used to secure the pedal assembly could have been stripped, causing the pedals to work their way loose.
