The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has announced that its probe into complaints of unintended acceleration in certain Ford, Lincoln and Mercury vehicles has been upgraded to an engineering analysis – the final step that could lead up to a recall of almost a half million Ford vehicles.

Feds investigating 1.9 million Ford vehicles for unintended acceleration

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has started an investigation into 1.9 million Ford Taurus and Mercury Sable sedans over a concern that the vehicles may be exhibiting similar unintended acceleration issues similar to those that plagued Toyota Motor Co over the past few years.

Ford recalling 200k+ minivans over torque convertor failure

Ford Motor Company and the folks at the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration have announced a recall of 2004 and 2005 model year Ford Freestar and Mercury Monterey minivans over a concern that they may have been built with defective torque convertor output shafts – a problem that could leave the vehicle “dead in the water” if the output shaft was to fail on the open road.
