Earlier today, TorqueNews brought you a look at the new Nissan Lead television advertisement that envisions a world where everything relies on a gasoline engine with the commercial going so far as to include the 2011 Chevrolet Volt and in reply to the playful commercial shot in the ribs, General Motors employees have offered a few choice comments.

Chevy recycles 106 tons of oil-soaked booms with Volt

Booms were used to save our Southern coastline from as much of the spilled British Petroleum oil in the Gulf of Mexico as possible. Once they had done their job, they were destined either for incineration or the landfill. Chevy collected 215,000 lbs. of oil-soaked booms and recycled them into air baffles for the new “1,000 miles between fill-ups” Volt – enough parts for a year of fabrication.

New Chevrolet 'LFX' V-6 engine has exhaust manifold integrated into cylinder head

For 2012, the Chevrolet Camaro's V-6 will not have--times two--a cast iron exhaust manifold, six bolts, a gasket and a heat shield and three more bolts and as a result will be lighter, make more horsepower and have reduced emissions. It's largely due to combining the exhaust manifold with the cylinder head into a single aluminum casting.
