Watch 2018 Subaru WRX Vs. Banana Peels; Who Wins? [Video]

What is Subaru up to now with WRX? They launch the 2018 Subaru WRX through banana peels. Check out the video.

Subaru Canada says it’s the atypical 0-100 km/h test for the atypical sports car. It’s a crazy test that Subaru Canada came up with. Subaru likes to takes the WRX and WRX STI performance cars and do crazy stuff like take it down a bobsled run. Now, they took hundreds of banana peels, spread them out over a 100km track and sprayed it down with water to make sure it was extra slick.

The 2018 Subaru WRX with its rally-bred Symmetrical all-wheel-drive goes from 0-100 km/h in 6:10 through the gooey mess. If that wasn’t enough fun, the crew also took the new WRX through airport runway foam (6:03 sec), green, red and blue powder (7:15), half sand/half snow (8:01), road from hell (6:02), and wet asphalt (6:01).

What’s the point of the crazy tests?

Subaru is all about showing off the WRX’s Symmetrical all-wheel-drive system and this is one more way of showcasing the Sport sedan’s prowess in any and all road conditions. These surface tests were conducted in Squamish, B.C. on June 16-17, 2017. Subaru says time posted for each surface was the fastest of multiple runs.

We know the new 2018 Subaru WRX will handle just about any road surface you can throw at it, what we’re trying figure out is, who ate all those hundreds of bananas?

The banana peels are cool, but a rare thing to find. However, the engine sound comes with every start of the engine. How much better was the sound on the previous engine. Yes, this one is way better, I know, but the sound of the rumble... that still lives on previous WRXs generations, and the current STi are things to be missed in real live. Bring back the rumble on the next WRX. Porsche made a mistake on the 911 headlights around 2000, then they got back the classic ones. Why are very old WRXs (until 2008 ) comparatively so expensive? They don't do laps faster on the Nürburgring. They sound good, and look better then generation prior to the 2015 one. What a combination. The real deal. Keep it beautiful as is today or go closer to the WRX Concept, and bring back the rumble. I will happily change mine for that one. Looks + rumble, and keep improving everything else. WRXs sold better the EVOs not because they were better at the Nürburgring either, they sounded better, and thet where more reliable.
