Ford to auction off Grabber Blue Mustang Boss 302 Laguna Seca

Nissan gains most in 2010 U.S. sales

Among the big-three Japan-based auto companies in the United States, Nissan was the biggest winner by far in 2010. Sure, both Honda and Toyota sold more vehicles than Nissan. So both remain larger retailers. But Nissan grew at a much faster pace in 2010. In fact, while Honda and, especially, Toyota struggled to keep up with the recovering pace of U.S. auto sales, and while both lost market share, Nissan performed better than the market at large, and gained share.

Kia Ends 2010 with Annual Sales of More than 350,000 Vehicles

Lexus remains leading American luxury-car brand

Toyota stock shows strength despite drop in sales rank

GM stock posting higher highs since IPO

Ask any investor who believes in technical analysis. Stocks that breakout to the upside or to the downside need to be accompanied by high volume. GM has yet to exceed any of the post-IPO high volume days, even on the breakout of December 30. At best, the GM stock price on Jan. 3 made a new high, with volume of 32 million shares registering #4 on the volume hit parade.

Toyota slips to third place place behind Ford

A year that started badly for Toyota also ended badly. In December 2010, sales of Toyota brand vehicles dropped 5.9 percent from the same month in 2009. The decline put Toyota's total, 12-month vehicle sales for 2010 nearly a half percent lower than 2009 sales – a dismal performance for a major brand in a year in which total U.S. vehicle sales rose 11 percent. Toyota's overall rank among U.S. car companies slipped to third place in 2010, dropping below Ford for the first time in four years.

Chrysler leads the Big 3 in December 2010 sales thanks to Ram, Jeep

BMW saw healthy growth in 2010 while its Mini brand managed to just squeak out growth. Companies that didn’t experience at least 6 percent growth in 2010 can consider themselves to have fallen behind the pack because 2009 was the worst year for car sales since 1982.

Hackers steal customer information from Honda

New Honda and Acura owners got a late Christmas present last week when the automaker announced that hackers had accessed a company customer database, stealing information to 2.2 million Honda owners and 2.7 million Acura owners.
