Porsche Unveils Rare Boxster S Black Edition

The famous German automaker Porsche is adding a new mix into the Boxster S fold, the rare and somewhat stunning Black Edition.

The limited-run Porsche Boxster S Black Edition will be more exclusive than the 911 Black Edition, as only 987 units will be created throughout the world. The price for this new machine is around $66,150. This price includes the $950 shipping charge.

Don’t think that this Boxster is all flash and no go, as it gets an increase in power from its 3.4-liter flat-six engine. That engine puts out 320 horsepower and will take the car from 0-60 mph in just 4.8 seconds. In order to achieve those numbers, buyers will have to opt for the optional PDK seven-speed double-clutch transmission, but if one wants real speed, the Sport Chrono Package is waiting. This setup adds a more aggressive Sport and Sport Plus shift modes that will help shave 0.2 seconds off of the 0-60 mph time. Sporting drivers might want to stick to the standard six-speed manual and while the times might not be as good, the driving impressions will be.

In the design department, the Boxster S Black Edition will get black paint, black convertible top, black exhaust pipes and side intake grilles. Other items include black-painted 19-inch Spyder wheels wrapped in 235/35ZR19 front tires and 265/35ZR19 rears.

The cabin continues this black theme, as the instrument dials are black, the steering wheel is wrapped in black leather and the seats have been wrapped in black leather upholstery. Where there isn’t black, there is aluminum and stainless steel to give the car some sort of contrasting colors.

Porsche will throw in some toys as well, including navigation, Bose surround sound, and satellite radio are standard, as is the convenience package, which includes bi-xenon HID headlamps and rain-sensing wipers.

All in all, at just $66,150, this Porsche Boxster S Black Edition will save buyers $3,500 over a comparably equipped Boxster S.
