Jeep Grand Cherokee Based Maserati Confirmed

One more luxury car, the a Maserati-based Jeep Grand Cherokee is joining the SUV movement. Maserati is planning on building an SUV, according to WSJ.

There have been rumors of such a vehicle for some time now and earlier reports have suggested that the vehicle will use Ferrari power.

Sergio Marchionne has confirmed the new SUV to the Wall Street Journal, stating that the new Jeep was great architecture and there was no reason for him not to put a Maserati on it. That being said, the platform is already used on the Mercedes-Benz ML-Class, which can come in M63 form with a price tag of $92,590.

Reports are also indicating that the new SUV could be made in the same line as the Jeep and the Dodge Durango. That means that a Maserati SUV could be made in Detroit.

No release date has been mentioned for this Maserati SUV.
