Honda Teases The 2012 Civic Before Detroit Release

Honda has been falling down as of late and in order to get back on the ball, the new 2012 Civic, scheduled to be unveiled in Detroit, needs to be fantastic.

Today, Honda has just teased the new Civic, giving us a nice rendering of what the next generation compact car will look like.

Overall, the new design is very futuristic and takes some design elements from the European Civic. It does look quite good, but the chances of the new Civic actually looking like this are slim, as this is just a concept for now.

The front fascia is dominated by sweeping taillights that looked smoked, while two-slit fog lights flank a large air inlet. From what we have seen, the interior of the Civic will get mild tweaks, with a new steering wheel and some updated trim bits. The uniquely Civic bi-level instrumentation panel is still present.

There has been no word on any motor or transmission changes.

Expect the production version of the 2012 Civic to go on sale in the spring of 2012.

The current Civic has been aging quite quickly, as new models from Chevrolet and Hyundai are making the compact car look slow and dated.
