2012 Mercedes-Benz CLS 63 AMG

Do you want a high-performance sedan that looks like a coupe and packs some serious power? Well, the new 2012 Mercedes-Benz CLS 63 AMG might be the best choice.

The new CLS AMG will debut at the Los Angeles Auto Show and it will pack a completely new motor. Where as the old CLS AMG packed the 6.2-liter V8, this new version will come equipped with a 5.5-liter turbocharged V8. This reduction in displacement won’t mean a lose in power, as this motor will crank out 518 horsepower and 516 pound-feet of torque. Add the AMG Performance Package and that jumps to 550 horsepower and 590 pound-feet of torque. This motor will be connected to a seven-speed multi-clutch transmission.

Those who have driven vehicles powered by the old 6.2-liter will understand when we say it wasn’t exactly light on fuel. This new motor will improve on that, as Mercedes claims that it will get 16 mpg in the city and 21 on the highway.

Buying an AMG usually means that your vehicle will pack some serious technology. The CLS 63 will come with COMAND with 40GB Hard-Drive GPS Navigation, Bluetooth interface, 14-Speaker Harman/Kardon LOGIC7 surround sound system with Dolby Digital 5.1, HD Digital Radio, in-dash 6-disc DVD/CD Changer, in-dash SD Card Reader, iPod/MP3 Media Interface, SIRIUS satellite radio, power tilt/sliding sunroof with one touch pen/close, multifunction leather sport steering wheel with shift paddles, 14-way power adjustable seats with 3 position memory for seats, heated front seats, headlamp cleaning system and tons more, not that you’ll need it.

If you’ve had your eye on one of these you can pick it up in the summer of 2011. Will it be better than the Porsche Panamera Turbo or the Aston Martin Rapide? We’ll have to wait and see.
