Scion has chosen to make the 2012 Scion iQ available in waves, starting with California, Scion Vice President Jack Hollis told reporters at the College for Creative Studies in Detroit on Wednesday
The two special Scions, which will remain on display at the State Fair of Texas until Oct. 23, are limited editions that will be ready to drive from Scion dealership showrooms in October.
The free program, created by Toyota in 2004 and continued annually since then, allows teens to hone their driving capabilities beyond standard driver's education training.

When the 2012 Scion iQ hits US showrooms, it will carry a base price of $15,995 – coming fairly well equipped with only a few options.
“Akio Toyoda has mentioned he is going to bring the fun-to-drive spirit back to Toyota,” Hollis said. “I know that the Scion FR-S Concept is one of the ways that he plans to accomplish that.”
