Quantum is a leading developer of natural gas, hydrogen and hybrid/electric vehicle technologies and will showcase its ultra-lightweight natural gas vehicle storage systems, hybrid/electric propulsion system components and vehicle and advanced propulsion engineering services portfolio at the ACT Expo held in the Long Beach Convention Center this week.

Hosted by Gladstein, Neandross & Associates, the ACT Expo is North America's foremost alternative fuel and clean vehicle technology show presenting cutting edge information and products in the green transportation sector, highlighting the ability for fleets to cut costs, run more efficiently and lessen the environmental impacts of transportation.

"We are pleased to showcase our slate of advanced technologies, products and capabilities to leading fleet customers at the ACT Expo 2012," said Brian Olson, CEO of Quantum. Mr. Olson added, "Quantum's ultra-lightweight natural gas vehicle fuel storage systems and fuel saving plug-in hybrid vehicle technologies provide ideal solutions to fleet operators who are under increasing pressure to reduce costs, while meeting stringent emission criteria and performance requirements."

During the event, Quantum will provide a presentation of their technology to several dozen leading fleet operators in a special pre-conference session by invitation only to major fleet operators operating on natural gas.

Included in the Quantum F-150 Plug-in Hybrid Electric (PHEV) pickup empowered by Quantum's new and efficient F-Drive parallel plug-in hybrid electric drive system. Using F-Drive, the truck’s first 35 miles are zero emission electric drive when it switches to a hybrid drive mode.

The plug-in hybrid is easily rechargeable with a 110 V or 220 V outlet and uses a SAE J1772 Compliant Charging System. The truck is based on F-150 4 X 4 or SuperCab with a 145-inch wheelbase.

It has a top speed of 85 mph, accelerates from zero to 60-mph in 12 seconds and features a 400 mile range with a payload capacity of 900 lb. It can tow up to 5,800 lbs and meets FMVSS Requirements.

Quantum Fuel Systems Technologies Worldwide, Inc. develops, manufactures and distributes lightweight natural gas and hydrogen storage systems in addition to advanced powertrain components for hybrid/electric and alternative fuel vehicles.

The have delivered over 20,000 converted natural gas vehicles to General Motors, supplied more than 2,500 hydrogen systems to leading global automakers and shipped 3,000 plug-in hybrid electric drive system sets to Fisker Automotive who they co-founded in 2007.

In addition to their own vehicle designs for military and commercial applications, Quantum provides engineering services and powertrain components to automakers for use in natural gas, hybrid/electric and hydrogen vehicles.

Quantum's wholly owned subsidiary, Schneider Power Inc., and affiliate Asola Solarpower GmbH add to Quantum's support of renewable energy through the development of wind and solar farms, plus the manufacture of high efficiency solar modules for automotive and commercial use. Quantum is headquartered in Irvine, California, and has operations and affiliations in the USA and Canada.
