2017 marks the 47th year of the Range Rover nameplate. When Land Rover introduced the model back 1970, it was a unique product. The Range Rover offered the off-road capability of an SUV and brought many appointments and features found in luxury sedans. It may not seem like a big thing, but almost all SUVs at the time were built to be tough and rugged. Luxury appointments amounted to items such as doors or power steering.

In the span of over four decades, the Range Rover evolved from a two-door to a four-door model with the luxuries you would expect. One item that hasn't changed is how off-road capable the Range Rover is its various guises.

Land Rover has posted a video highlighting the four generations of Range Rover and the significant improvements each one brought.

Happy 47th birthday Ranger Rover. Here's to many more years of faithful service.
