Building A Volkswagen Beetle Out of 1,167 Lego Pieces

We'll admit we're suckers for Lego's car models. There is the Volkwagen T1 Camper Van, Ferrari F40, Mini Cooper, and even a Mercedes-Benz Unimog. Now Lego has announced a new car model that we want now!

The latest model from Lego is the classic Volkswagen Beetle from the sixties. Comprising of 1,167 pieces, the model when built will have an azure blue exterior with gray bumpers, and a tan interior. The doors, hood, and trunk are operable. We like the little details such as the spare tire and fuel tank up front, and the flat four engine under the hood. Credit should be given to Lego's designers for somehow having the Beetle have its rounded shape when the kit is mostly made up of square and rectangular pieces.

In terms of size, the Beetle will measure 11.4 inches long and 4.3 inches wide. This puts it in line with other car models in the Lego Creator series.

The Lego Beetle kit will go on sale this August and cost $99.99.
