Recall for Jaguar Land Rover in some US vehicles

Safety recalls are necessary for the well-being of consumers and Jaguar Land Rover are not taking any chances after National Highway Traffic Safety Administration issues notices for Brakes and Lighting.

The newest recall issued by Jaguar Land Rover (JLR) North America will affect over 100,000 vehicles including SUV’s and cars. Approximately 74,648 of the recalls will be Range Rover models built from 2005 to 2012 for braking issues. The intended fix for the issues are to replace front brake hoses that may rupture and slow braking speeds, increasing the possibility of an accident. The recall is scheduled to begin on March 13th.

A few Jaguar cars (24,679) are also on the recall list including vehicles built from August 16, 2012 to January 8, 2014 and sport models made from May 7, 2013 to January 8, 2014. The issues with the Jaguars are also related to braking concerns. The Jaguar XK model is also on the recall list and includes as many as 4,787 cars and need upgrades to the software for the parking lamps (side lamps) that turn off after five minutes.

The issues are a result of the NHTSA notices and all recalls letters plan to be mailed on or before March 13th. The scheduled repairs and fixes will be covered by JLR and will not cost the owner anything to get the problems corrected. Owners simply need to take the affected vehicles to the specific manufacturer to begin the fixes to be performed by the dealership. Each vehicle will be inspected to find any issues related to the safety recall and replace or repair those parts.

Safety officials said that the vehicles in question have been under prior investigation for possible brake related issues for many months but there had not been any accidents or injuries. However, recent reports of an accident with suspected ruptured brake hoses caused the prior reports to be reopened.

Jaguar owners who receive this recall notice should contact their local or nearby Jaguar Land Rover dealership to schedule the repairs as quickly as possible.
