Jaguar officially says the F-Pace is coming

The crossover market is an area where Jaguar has never entered, however they just officially announced they will build their first Crossover and it will carry the F-Pace nameplate.

Jaguar has just announced that they will finally add a crossover vehicle to their lineup as a 2017 model. The crossover is based on the C-X17 Concept unveiled in 2013 (Frankfurt Motor Show) and it will surely set the pace for all other manufacturers to follow. After all, Jaguar says it is inspired by the almighty F-Type and we know how that has worked for Jaguar. They are referring to it as a performance crossover, so needless to say it will be a nimble fighter in the crossover market. When it hits the streets it will do so using the new advanced lightweight aluminum construction.

The video just released by Jaguar shows the tail light trail as it enters Detroit and follows it as it flashes through the streets. The aerial view reveals the F-Pace name on the ground left by the glow of the speedy vehicles as it races around town:

Some have wonder for years why Jaguar had never built an SUV and it looks like the wait is finally over. The only bad news is you will have to wait till 2016 to pick one up. Over the coming months we will most likely hear more details about this vehicle as the anticipation builds. Jaguar insiders say the earliest we might see it is the New York Auto Show in April, so we can hope for more teaser photos.

Ian Callum (Jaguar Design Director) said “We received such an overwhelmingly positive response to the C-X17 concept car last year that we just had to make it a reality. The Jaguar F-Pace inspired by the F-Type, represents the perfect balance of style, performance and practicality – The F-Pace is our family sports car.”

In addition to performance you can bet this crossover will be equipped with a plethora of innovative high-tech controls and exceptional style. The luxurious and spacious interior will be on par with the sophistication we expect from Jaguar. Designed and engineered in the UK, Jaguar says “The F-Pace has now begun its rigorous real-world testing at Jaguar Land Rover’s extensive global test facilities and will be manufactured in Solihull, UK.”

Stay tuned for more information on this new F-Pace crossover from Jaguar as it is released.
