Why the Mercedes-CLA-Class is a global phenomenon

The all-new 2014 Mercedes-Benz CLA-Class is a truly a global success and is getting ready to launch in Malaysia.

The all-new 2014 Mercedes-Benz CLA-Class is about to launch in Malaysia as it makes its march around the globe. The CLA-Class compact four-door coupe is making waves all over the world and could overtake the top selling C-Class as Mercedes’ most successful car. The CLA is about to launch in Malaysia as should be a top seller in the Asian country.

The Mercedes-Benz Malaysian-spec CLA 200, is on display at the Petronas Malaysian Grand Prix Showcase at the Suria KLCC shopping center in Wilayah Persekutuan Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. Shoppers can get see the new CLA 200 that comes with the Urban equipment line, a dual-tailpipe exhaust system, Night package, black wing mirror caps, high-gloss waistline trim strip, plus two-tone twin-spoke 18-inch alloy wheels wrapped with 225 R/40/18 tires.

The Malaysian spec 2014 Mercedes-Benz CLA 200 comes with a 1.6 liter turbo four-cylinder that produces 156 hp and 250 Nm of torque to the front wheels through a 7G-DCT dual-clutch gearbox. The CLA is based on Mercedes-Benz’s new front-wheel drive platform, which also underpins the A-Class, B-Class, and GLA-Class.

The CLA 200 should be a big hit in the Asian country. The compact luxury four-door coupe has been selling well in Europe and U.S. markets as a new generation of consumers is buying the CLA in record numbers. Steve Cannon, president and CEO of MBUSA said, “Sales show the CLA-Class is resonating with customers.  The recently-launched CLA is already one of the top volume models.”

The reception from these first-ever Mercedes buyers has been very positive as the German automaker has included the very attractive styling and high-tech infotainment systems this generation is looking for. The new four-door coupe is Mercedes lowest-priced car in the U.S. and it’s attracting new buyers to the brand. In the U.S., MBUSA’s newest star was in the top three for all Mercedes-Benz vehicles last year. Only the C and E-Class outsold the CLA.

The CLA-Class is a resounding success as Mercedes attracts a new younger buyer to the brand with its sexy styling, attractive price and high-tech features. Will the Malaysian 2014 Mercedes-Benz CLA 200 be as successful with the young Asian market? It should be a top seller for the brand as it takes on rival VW Passat, VW CC and BMW 316 in Asia.
