BMW has announced the new 2016 BMW M4 GTS is now available worldwide and in the U.S. What’s the advantage of its new water injection system?

The BMW M4 Coupe gets a substantial boost from BMW M GmbH technology with the new 2016 BMW M4 GTS that’s designed for the track. BMW announced 2016 BMW M4 GTS will be launching worldwide and will be limited to just 700 examples with 300 units of this high-performance Special Edition M4 available for the first time in the US market.

What’s the advantage of its new water injection system?

The innovative water injection system in the M4 GTS is what sets this high-performance track-ready model apart. The system developed by BMW M GmbH helps boost power to 493 bHP, an increase of 16 percent over the BMW M4’s 3.0-liter TwinTurbo inline six engine and torque has been increased by 10 percent to 442 lb-ft. BMW says the M4 GTS will launch from 0-60 mph in a quick 3.7 seconds with a governed top speed of 189.5 mph.

BMW M also developed a special track-ready chassis for the performance car and the M4 GTS recorded a lap time of 7 minutes 28 seconds recently around the Nurburgring-Nordschleife. BMW was able to increase power and performance while at the same time providing similar fuel mileage numbers as the standard M4 Coupe.

The track-ready road-legal model also gets new OLED light technology, a full three-way adjustable M coil-over suspension and a new lightweight body design that incorporates aluminum and carbon fiber. The 3.0-liter engine comes mated to a 7-speed M double-clutch automatic transmission with Drivelogic that offers a choice of three shift programs. Stopping power is provide with ultra high performance M carbon ceramic brakes. The rear-wing made from lightweight CFRP gives the rear of the M4 GTS a distinctive look and provides improved downforce at high speeds.

Global customers can get the M4 GTS in Sapphire Black metallic, Mineral Grey metallic, Alpine White and Frozen Dark Grey Metallic paint finish. This ultra high-performance M4 GTS will be a beast on the track and will draw lots of attention anywhere it goes on the street. It cranks up the performance quite a few notches from the M4. How much will it cost? BMW has not revealed pricing on the production 2016 BMW M4 GTS or a global launch date. Stay tuned.
