Subaru encourages WRX/STI owners to be involved in motorsports

Subaru is offering an incentive for WRX/STI owners to be involved in the Targa Newfoundland International Rally 2014.

Subaru is encouraging WRX/STI owners to be involved in motorsports and is putting up money and incentives to get you involved. If you are going to own a Subaru WRX STI performance car, why have it sit in the garage just to take it out and drive it on commutes to work? If you’ve ever thought of rally racing, Subaru is giving a nice incentive to get involved with your WRX STI. You can use any Subaru automobile, but for serious race fans, take your WRX or WRX STI to Newfoundland. How does the incentive work?

Subaru has deep roots in Rally racing and has been a long-time participant and supporter of the Targa Newfoundland international rally, and Subaru Canada, Inc. (SCI) is making it even better for WRX and WRX STI owners. SCI has announced a new, broad-ranging incentive and support program for Subaru competitors, their immediate families and for Targa event staff this year.

First of all, what is the Targa Newfoundland International Rally 2014? It’s an international rally race covering more than 2,000 kilometers of challenging, twisty roads on the eastern portion of Newfoundland, including up to 500 kilometers of closed-road, flat-out Targa stages. Subaru Canada has supported the Targa Newfoundland international rally since its inception in 2002.

The upcoming event takes place from September 14-19, 2014. Owned and operated by Newfoundland International Motorsports Limited, Targa Newfoundland is one of three internationally recognized motorsports events in the world. Want to get involved with your Subaru WRX or WRX STI?

Here’s how Subaru’s new incentive program works. It includes a $750 rebate on the purchase or lease of a new Subaru for eligible participants, immediate family members or Targa Newfoundland event staff, as well as a $500 Entrant award for participants using any model of Subaru and competing in any of the four categories (Open, Modern, Classic, Grand Touring).

For those race fans who are serious about winning, Subaru Canada will offer a $2,000 cash performance award for Subaru entrants placing first in any of the four categories, a $1,500 award for second place and a $1,000 award for placing third. Now that’s an incentive worth getting excited about. This is the first time Subaru has offered anything like this.

Subaru Canada has initiated this incentive offer with its rebate program that also includes the competitors’ families and the event’s volunteer staff. “We are extremely pleased that Targa Newfoundland, its competitors and volunteers have been recognized by Subaru Canada,” said organizer Robert Giannou. “We are especially appreciative of the way the new Subaru Targa support program includes our event staff as they work so hard to make the event happen each year.”

Subaru is the only automaker that we know of who actually encourages their owners to get out and race their cars. So if you own a Subaru WRX or WRX STI, here’s a great way to get involved in a great rally race. For more information, check out the Subaru 2014 Targa Newfoundland rebate application.
