Subaru attempts extreme fastest road-rallying record with 2015 Outback

The all-new 2015 Subaru Outback had begun production and will now attempt to set a new Guinness record. Is Outback getting too soft?

Subaru is not new to rally racing, but this is taking things to an extreme road-rallying level. The 2015 Subaru Outback is getting ready to make its dealer launch and Subaru wants to show the world what sets the brand apart from the rest of the recreation vehicles. Subaru Russia will attempt to set a new Guinness record with the next-generation Outback multi-purpose wagon. What are they attempting?

Why attempt this record?

Subaru Russia is reporting that the new Outback will take the longest road in the world that any car can drive within the boundaries of a single continent, and attempt a new Guinness record. Yesterday, the new Outback left Moscow and started the extreme expedition. The goal for Subaru is to make the fastest rally at a distance of more than 10,000 kilometers (6,213 miles) on a production car, and thus set a new world record.

Where will it take place?

2015 Outback will go from Moscow and will make this road rally run from Portugal (Cape San Vicente) to Magadan which is a port town on the Sea of Okhotsk in southern Russia. Subaru Russia chose this road rally because the distance between them is the longest path that you can take within the boundaries of a single continent.

A production 2015 Outback

Subaru will not outfit the 2015 Outback with any special equipment. The only things the new wagon will come with is a navigation system, satellite communications and Autolocator and two drivers that will change and go almost nonstop for the whole distance.

How many days will this take?

Subaru expects the longest road rally Guinness record can be set in 15 days. The purpose is also to prove that “the obstruction of our spaces is greatly exaggerated.” Here in the U.S., Subaru is hoping the new-generation Outback wagon will keep it the most popular multi-purpose wagon in America. In Russia, they want to show how the Outback has rally-bred roots in the Subaru brand and will tackle and conquer the longest road on any continent in the world. Will this attempt show that the 2015 Subaru Outback isn’t too soft?
