Want the ultimate in luxury performance? It didn’t take Mercedes-AMG long to do their magic on the new S-Class and they have unleashed the 2014 Mercedes S63 AMG. The newest AMG is the most powerful high-performance sedan in the luxury segment. We should have known Mercedes-AMG GmbH would make the most powerful-performance luxury sedan in the world. It’s what they do, and they do it to perfection. It starts underneath the hood of the new luxury saloon.

Standard 4MATIC

2014 Mercedes S63 AMG gets an assembled-by-hand AMG 5.5-liter V8 biturbo engine. It’s the most powerful member of the M157 engine family, with an output of 577 hp and torque of 664 lb-ft. The new 4MATIC equipped S63 AMG is up to 220 pounds lighter than its predecessor. And the performance-oriented AMG all-wheel drive system 4MATIC is offered standard on the performance model for the first time.

Mercedes plans to target new markets with the S63 AMG with 4MATIC. It should appeal to performance enthusiasts who attach importance to superior four-wheel drive in wet or dry conditions. With all that horsepower and torque, it’s important to keep all four wheels firmly planted on the road.

Special S63 AMG performance upgrades

The AMG 5.5-liter V8 biturbo engine comes with a number of special goodies over the standard S-Class powerplant. It features direct gasoline injection with piezo injectors, twin turbos, all-aluminum crankcase, four valves per cylinder with camshaft adjustment, air-to-water intercooler, coolers for the engine oil, engine water and transmission oil, and a lightweight composite oil pan.

The performance sedan also comes with optional AMG ceramic high-performance two piece brake system for the first time. This new brake system has a longer service life, is more resistant to corrosion and displays higher thermal stability. The composite brake system has front brake discs with a diameter of 16.5 inches and is recognizable by the "AMG Carbon Ceramic" logo on the bronze painted brake calipers.

The powerful S63 AMG is also fitted with an AMG ADAPTIVE sports suspension. The full air suspension system AIRMATIC is equipped with the Adaptive Damping System ADS PLUS. One new feature is the continuous damping adjustment, which can be controlled independently in the compression stage and rebound stage. It allows better adaptation to the driving and road-surface.

The all-new 2014 Mercedes-Benz S63 AMG 4MATIC ($139,500) is the ultimate in luxury sedan performance. It meets the highest Mercedes-AMG standards in terms of high-class appeal, quality and perfection. Look for the S63 AMG 4MATIC to arrive in U.S. showrooms November 2013.
