McLaren celebrates North American arrival of McLaren MP4-12C with video

McLaren is celebrating the arrival of the new McLaren MP4-12C in North America with a new Youtube video.

Thankfully deliveries of the McLaren MP4-12C are now underway to customers in North America and Canada. I am sure those luckily enough to afford such an amazing car are happy to be getting their McLarens.

In the Youtube video McLaren showcases the first street drives across North America of the 12C. The video was shot in five locations across the United States, mainly in the key markets where McLaren has dealerships and the cars will be available to customers with hefty bank accounts. The opening of the video also shows footage that was shot on location at McLaren’s port of entry in Baltimore, MD. (One up for Baltimore! We also have the Baltimore Grand Prix back on track now.) The footage shows beautiful MP4-12C supercars rolling off the cargo vessel Taisko which had just arrived from the United Kingdom.

J.F. Musial, Chief Creative Officer of TangentVector, directed and produced the video. Musial recently launched a new YouTube Original Channel called DRIVE. The channel will focus on creating original automotive content for the web.

“This film is exciting as it represents the arrival of McLaren Automotive in North America. We are thrilled to be launching with the 12C, which is such a tremendously innovative car, and we look forward to building a long term future.” said Tony Joseph, McLaren Automotive North America Regional Director.

The MP4-12C is equipped with a 3.8-liter V8 twin turbocharged engine, which produces an incredible 592hp and 600Nm torque. The innovative sports car, which features all original components, can reach 0-60 mph in 3.2 seconds. If fitted with Pirelli PZero Corsa tires it does 0-60 mph in a mind-blowing 3 seconds flat! The 12C’s unique carbon fiber ‘MonoCell’ chassis weighs 165 lbs. and is a clear representation of McLaren’s motorsport DNA from Formula 1 racing. McLaren introduced a carbon fiber monocoque chassis to Formula 1 back in 1981 and has produced every one of its road and race car chassis's since using the same composite material. The base MSRP for the 12C is $229,000 in the US.

The arrival of the MP4-12C marks the launch of McLaren Automotive in North America. McLaren hopes and plans to launch a new model or variant in the North American market each year, vastly expanding its lineup and reaching new customers. McLaren hopes to compete in the supercar market directly with Ferrari, their arch-nemesis on the F1 circuit.

I am sure most auto fans are hoping McLaren will be introducing more cars like the MP4-12C in the future. Since it sounds like an incredible car.
