WD-40/SEMA Cares 2011 Ford Mustang GT raises $200k

The WD-40/SEMA Cares 2011 Ford Mustang GT customized by a wide variety of aftermarket specialty companies made its grand debut at the 2010 SEMA Show in Las Vegas and late last month, the bright blue and yellow customized Mustang rolled off the stage at the Barrett Jackson Auto Auction after raising over $200,000 for children’s charities.

Today, the folks responsible for the WD-40/SEMA Cares 2011 Ford Mustang GT issued a statement announcing the final results of this year’s charity custom car build. Last year, the same group worked together to create the WD-40/SEMA Cares 2010 Chevrolet Camaro SS, which helped to raise around $75,000. This year, the gorgeous, one of a kind custom Ford Mustang GT drew a winning bid of $100,000 and with contributions from various celebrities like Tim Allen, the final amount going to charity on the behalf of the WD-40/ SEMA Cares Mustang went over the $200,000 mark.

The winning bidders who got to take home the WD-40/SEMA Cares 2011 Ford Mustang GT are John and Jeanette Stallupi, who plan to feature the customized Mustang GT at the Cars of Dreams Museum in Palm Beach, Florida. The proceeds of the auction (and the addition donations) go completely to Childhelp®, an organization that provides services to abused and neglected children, and The Victory Junction Gang® Camp, which provides life-changing camping experiences to special needs and chronically ill children. Click either of the charity names for more information on the two wonderful groups.

The WD-40/SEMA Cares charity custom care builds could not be possible without the help of the companies that contributed time and products to transform the standard 2011 Ford Mustang GT to the 600 horsepower WD-40/SEMA Cares Mustang. Companies like Street Scene Equipment, Stillen AP Racing, Forgeline and Paxton all had a heavy hand in building this amazing custom Ford Mustang and you can read more about the build by clicking here.
