Vengeance Racing Adds 75whp to the 2015 Corvette Z06

Yesterday we brought you the first real world dyno numbers for the 2015 Chevrolet Corvette Z06 thanks to Vengeance Racing and today, we offer you a look at their first tuning results – with 75 rear wheel horsepower added at the rear wheels with a tune and some very minimal modifications.

One of the greatest things about a modern high performance motor featuring forced induction like the 2015 Chevrolet Corvette Z06 is that you can often pull lots more power by adding a little boost and retuning the car. After picking up their new C7 Z06 from Rick Hendrick Chevrolet and doing a big, nasty burnout in the parking lot, the team at Vengeance racing took to squeezing more power from the newest American supercar.

This process began with Vengeance strapping their 2015 Corvette Z06 to the dyno to get baseline numbers and in doing so, they found that the C7 Z06 makes impressive levels of stock rear wheel horsepower. Numbers of 585 rear wheel horsepower and 611lb-ft of rear wheel torque indicated that GM either underrated the LT4 engine or it incredibly efficient…or maybe a light mix of both. However, Vengeance is a tuning company so those stock numbers were only good for comparison purposes, and the real good stuff came after those first test runs.

Building the 2015 Corvette Z06
After getting those strong base dyno numbers for the 2015 Chevrolet Corvette Z06, Vengeance Racing took to tuning the car with no other aftermarket components. Just by adjusting the various engine parameters such as spark timing, fuel flow and air flow, the VR team got an additional 32 rear wheel horsepower and 13 more lb-ft of rear wheel torque – bringing the total rear wheel output to 617 horsepower and 624lb-ft of torque. This means that a new Z06 owner who buys a hand tuner and applies a custom tune can expect similar gains without any other modifications (actual gains will vary based on the actual tune, etc).

Once the Vengeance crew had squeezed some extra power out of the C7 Corvette Z06, they then added a smaller upper pulley to get a little more boost and the results were 10 more horsepower and 16lb-ft more torque for totals of 627hp and 640lb-ft of torque at the rear wheels. That is 42 rear wheel horsepower and 29lb-ft of torque at the wheels with just a tune and a pulley.

Finally (for now), VR added an AFE cold air intake package to the 2015 Corvette Z06 and retuned it once more. With the added airflow came even more power, as combining the intake with the pulley and the tune brought out 33 more horsepower and 23lb-ft more torque at the wheels for a total of 660 rear wheel horsepower and 663lb-ft of rear wheel torque.

All said and done, adding an upper pulley, a cold air intake kit and a custom tune allowed Vengeance Racing to gain an extra 75 horsepower and 52lb-ft of torque at the wheels.

2 questions... 1) What would it cost me to have Vengeance do the same to my Z06 and 2) Does it affect the factory warranty?
