Kia teases their 2011 SEMA Show vehicles

The 2011 SEMA Show opens exactly two weeks from today but the corporate teaser shots continue to flow, with the folks from Kia offering up a shot of their compact Kia Soul - giving us a glimpse at what to expect from the six sporty vehicles coming to the Las Vegas Convention Center later this month.

Kia announced this morning via Facebook that the Korean automaker will be working with the well-known custom automotive specialists from West Coast Customs, NBA All Star Blake Griffin and superstar golfer Michelle Wie to bring out six sports-themed models to the 2011 SEMA Show. In addition to the announcement of these celebrities working with Kia for SEMA, the Kia Soul Facebook page offered up a rear shot of the Kia Soul that was developed with help by Michelle Wie.

The artist’s rendering courtesy of West Coast Customs shows the 2011 Kia Soul with custom wheels, a truly unique paint job and a flat screen mated to an Xbox360 mounted in the back – which appropriately looks to be playing a golfing game. Kia hasn’t given any idea as to what to expect from the other five sports themed vehicles coming to the 2011 SEMA Show but with the success of the sport company segment in the American auto industry, making a good showing at the SEMA Show is a big step towards garnering more attention from the enthusiast crowd.

The Kia Soul has developed its own place in pop culture thanks in part to the famously trendy and musically catchy “Hamstar” adds which have most recently taken to a war-influenced world that looks a great deal like the setting of Microsoft’s Halo 3. The low cost, sporty Kia models have brought the Korean automaker a long way very quickly – departing from the bland design of the early Kia years in the US. Kia has taken a step towards becoming a sporty brand that appeals to younger buyers both for the design and the pricing, and showing off ‘what could be’ with SEMA Show models can help this company continue to grow in the sport compact world.
