The Jeep Wrangler Polar Edition is Headed for US Dealerships

The Chrysler Group has announced that the Jeep Wrangler Polar Edition that made its global debut at the Frankfurt Motor Show earlier this year will begin arriving in US dealerships in November – surprising many people expected the Wrangler Polar Edition to only be offered for overseas markets.

The Jeep Wrangler Polar Edition is based on the Wrangler Sahara model in either 2 door or 4 door configurations. The Wrangler Polar Edition comes with the 3.6L Pentastar V6 with 285 horsepower and 260lb-ft of torque being sent to all four wheels by means of a 6 speed manual or 5 speed automatic transmission.

The Polar Model adds a unique (and gorgeous) Hydro Blue paint, a body colored hard top with dark tinted glass, 18 inch wheels painted gloss black, a unique grille, a black Mopar fuel filler door, the PowerDome hood, unique gloss black Jeep badges and package specific decals on the hood, sides and rear of the vehicle. Those buyers who inexplicably do not like the Hydro Blue paint can also opt for Billet Silver or Bright White with the Polar Edition package but I cannot imagine why anyone would pick either of those over the stunning bright metallic blue shown above.

On the inside, the Jeep Wrangler Polar Edition sports a set of heated black leather seats with Pearl White accent stitching and the Polar Edition mountain logo embroidered on the seat backs. The black leather with Pear White stitching trend continues on the steering wheel, the door panel armrests and the center console lid. The passenger side grab handle, the door grab handles and the heating/air conditioning vent bezels are all painted bright Ceramic White with the Polar mountain logo making another appearance on the dash mounted grab handle. The Ceramic White trim from the HVAC bezels is continued in the unique gauge cluster with the outer rings of the gauges painted white around a blue instrument panel that also sports the Polar logo.

"Jeep Wrangler is known for its 4x4 capability on any road or trail and in any weather condition," said Mike Manley, President and CEO - Jeep Brand, Chrysler Group LLC. "The new Jeep Wrangler Polar Edition represents a tip of the hat to our loyal Jeep enthusiasts who are also lovers of outdoor winter activities and adventures. This new winter-themed Jeep will get them where they want to go, in a fun, new, unique – and very capable – special-edition package."

The most significant differences with the 2014 Jeep Wrangler Polar edition are found under the vehicle, where a Dana 30 front axle and Dana 44 rear axle assembly fitted with Trac-Lok anti-spin electronic rear differential work with to make this sporty utility vehicle nearly unstoppable in any conditions – including snowy polar conditions. While the bulk of this package is based on aesthetics, the addition of the Dana front and rear axles should make this Jeep as trail capable as anything on the market today.

The Chrysler Group hasn’t announced the pricing for the new 2014 Jeep Wrangler Polar Edition just yet but with these models expected to hit dealerships sometime in November, it shouldn’t be long before we know how much these great looking special edition SUVs will be here in the US market.
