Jaguar recalls 6475 XJ sedans for wiper failure risk

The freshly recalled Jaguar XJs, all of which were built between July 28, 2009 and November 3, 2010, could have wiper arms that were not tightened to the proper torque specifications during assembly. Should the wiper arms work loose from the drive spindles, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration reports that the wiper arms could “clash”. When you combine loose wiper arms with “clashing”, the wiper assemblies could become detached from the spindle – leaving you without one or both of your wipers.

There have been no reports of accidents or injuries stemming from this Jaguar XJ wiper recall but as we head in to winter, no one wants to be stuck without windshield wipers – especially in a luxury sedan with a price ranging from $72k-$113k.

Owners of the recalled 2010 and 2011 Jaguar XJs can expect to hear from the automaker by December 13th, instructing them to return to their neighborhood Jaguar dealership where the wiper assembly will be inspected and tightened if needed.
