Jaguar Land Rover recalls 2956 LR2s over airbag risk

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has announced that Jaguar Land Rover North America is recalling 2,956 LR2s over a possible airbag failure.

It seems that in those 2,956 Land Rover LR2 SUVs, a portion of the airbag system inside the steering wheel assembly may not have been properly connected. In the event of an accident, this could cause the airbag not to open correctly or it may not open at all – obviously increasing the possibility of injuries.

This Land Rover recall affects 2010-2011 LR2 models built between November, 12th, 2009 and August 23rd, 2010 and the recall is expected to begin around December 13th. Owners will be instructed to return to their Land Rover dealership where the technician will install a spacer to help ensure proper function of the airbag system. This service will be provided free of charge to the customer and for more information, owners can contact Jaguar Land Rover NA at 800-637-6837.
