The Forza Motorsport 4 April Alpinestars Car Pack arrives

This morning, the April 2012 car pack for Forza Motorsport 4 hit the Xbox Live marketplace – bringing 10 new cars to the incredible driving simulator that offer a great spread of European luxury performance road and street cars both new and old, old school and new school Japanese performance coupes, a 50s era American convertible and even a high performance Swedish station wagon.

The April Alpinestars Car Pack begins with the 1959 Cadillac Eldorado Biarritz Convertible with an in-game rating of 182 making this the lowest performing car in this new package. The 1985 Mazda RX-7 GSL-SE is next in line with a rating of 201, followed by the 1972 Mercedes Benz 300 SEL 6.3 (285), the 2012 Scion tC (302) and the 1997 Volvo 850 R. Next up is this writer’s personal favorite, the 1995 BMW M5 rated at a 417 while the 2011 Maserati Quattroporte Sport GT S (479) and the 2012 Jaguar XKR-S (563) finish of the April list of street cars both new and old. Capping off this month’s new car pack is a pair of race models, the 2011 Mercedes Benz SLS AMG GT3 sporting the #35 paint scheme and the 2011 Aston Martin Racing AMR One LeMans Prototype #009 race car.

The April Alpinestars Car Pack carries a price of 560 Microsoft points, or about $7 for those of you who don’t keep track of how much MS points cost these days. Those Forza 4 gamers who opted for the Season Pass option will get this free as part of your $29.99 subscription to the special program and if you are new to the Forza Motorsport 4 world and haven’t purchased any of the first six car packs – you can still stop at retailers including Game Stop and Best Buy to purchase the Season Pass. In addition to getting you the April Alpinestars Car Pack, new buyers will also receive the other 5 monthly packages include in the $30 deal. As a devout Forza gamer, I strongly recommend buying the Season Pass, especially if you plan to add car packs as they become available.

However, based on my math, the April Car Pack should be the sixth and final package included in the Season Pass. November, December, January, February and March were the first five so after this April Car Pack, those of us who did buy the Season Pass will be back to paying for each package individually.

In any case, the introduction of the ten new cars in the Forza 4 April Car Pack will likely include some new events in the Rivals series but at the time of this article going live – the races listed in the Monthly Rivals area were still those from March 2012. As a gamer who actively participates in the Monthly Rivals events, I hope to see some new online races based on some of the April Car Pack vehicles.
