Ford Teams Up with OPI Nail Polish for a 2015 Mustang Inspired Hue

Ford Motor Company announced today that as part of the 50th anniversary Mustang celebration, the automaker has teamed up with OPI Nail Lacquer to commemorate the original pony car with a new Race Red nail polish – marking the first time that an automaker has worked with a beauty products company to create a exterior paint themed nail polish color.

The Ford Mustang is popular with both men and women so it makes good sense that Ford Motor Company would look to offer some special items for female Mustang fans to help celebrate the Mustang’s 50th birthday. FoMoCo has teamed up with OPI Nail Lacquer to create a line of nail coverings that are inspired by the history of the Mustang and the “hero shade” will be Race Red – one of the most well recognized colors on the mighty Mustang over the past 5 decades.

This new collection will deliver elements of sophistication, luxury, power and style fitting for both OPI and Mustang consumers.”

According to Ford Motor Company, the new OPI Nail Lacquer will launch around the world in July with a handful of colors based on the Mustang. We don’t know what other colors will be included but after the 2015 Ford Mustang was introduced at several points around the world on December 5th in Race Red – it is fitting that this is the first official color of the Mustang inspired OPI Nail Lacquer lineup. OPI’s website shows an incredible array of colors and even unique textures for nail polish users so the rest of the Mustang inspired OPI collection could feature practically any color from the history of the Mustang.

“Ford Mustang inspires passion like no other car, and we are excited to be working with OPI on an exclusive collection that captures the spirit of our iconic car,” said Melanie Banker, Mustang marketing manager. “There is no better way to express Mustang’s bold personality and the excitement it creates than through color.”

Although Race Red is arguably the most famous of the Ford Mustang colors, there are a handful of other eye catching colors from the Mustang’s history which I could see arriving in the OPI lineup. Race Red is a very classic color that can be worn in most situations, but OPI may take a walk on the wild side and include some striking colors like Grabber Blue, Competition Orange and maybe a dark metallic green. If nothing else, I would expect that OPI would offer at least one color from every major color family (red, blue, green, yellow, etc) so that every female Mustang owner can accessorized her nails to match her prized pony car.
