Fisker teases a pair of Karma sedans coming to SEMA

While the floor of the 2012 SEMA Show will be reserved mostly for high performance, high horsepower gas guzzlers, there is also a place for luxury and alternative power models at SEMA so it makes good sense that the ultimate electric luxury sedan will be on hand with at least two examples of the Fisker Karma slated to arrive at next week’s show. Fisker has teamed up with well known auto industry brands 3M and Mobil 1 to offer up unique exterior designs on the Karma while Goodrich Technologies has manufactured a truly unique set of eco-friendly wheels for the super-green Fisker Karma.

First, the Fisker Karma comes wearing the unique Fisker Diamond Protection Film that helps prevent things like stone chips and other paint damage with a super thin, virtually unnoticeable covering with help from the people at 3M. At the 2012 SEMA Show, the Commercial Graphics division of 3M will show off their Scotchprint Wrap Film Series 1080 to essentially “paint” the Karma each day for a different look. Body wrapping cars rather than painting has become a popular way to customize your car without the time consuming restraints or the cost of a full paint job. During the course of the 2012 SEMA Show, 3M will recolor the Karma four times and you can check out the look of those four exterior designs in the gallery on the right (click any thumbnail for a closer look).

Next, Fisker has teamed up with the folks at Mobil 1 to design the unique Fisker Karma shown in the larger image on the right – named American Icon. Mobil 1 0W30 Advanced Fuel Economy Synthetic Motor Oil is found in the 2.0 liter turbocharged range extending gasoline engine in the Fisker Karma so to celebrate that successful partnership, the two have come up with a unique Karma sedan sporting the Mobil 1 colors. This car features a 3M Scotchprint wrap with featuring a Gloss Sterling Silver finish and Matte Blue Metallic stripes. The Mobil 1 Fisker Karma American Icon will appear all week at the 2012 SEMA Show in the massive DUB section outside which means that even those who cannot gain access to the SEMA Show (the show is not open to the general public) can stop by the Las Vegas Convention Center and see this Karma for themselves.

Finally, Fisker called up the folks at Goodrich Technologies to help produce chrome wheels that are appropriate for a car that has so much focus on being eco-friendly. Goodrich’s PermaStar chrome plating process will allow Fisker to offer new wheel options in the near future with a proper, high gloss chrome finish that a luxury car deserves but unlike traditional chrome plating – there is no products used that are harmful to Mother Nature nor is there any harmful waste produced by the process.

These new chrome wheels for the Fisker Karma (and presumably other future models) will allow the company to offer more wheel choices without any increase in the carbon footprint of the high end luxury sedan. These PermaStar chrome rims will be worn by all of the Fisker Karma show cars on display at SEMA 2012.
