The first official look at the 2014 Chevrolet Corvette C7 with video, pictures

Last week, General Motors announced that the 7th generation of the fabled Chevrolet Corvette will arrive on January 13th, 2013 as a 2014 model year vehicle along with giving everyone a first look at the slightly redesigned crossed flags logo that will adorn the nose of the new American sports car and today – we have our first look at the 2014 Chevrolet Corvette via an official company video.

The video below was released earlier today and this 58 second YouTube clip is a true teaser, showing only quick glimpses of tightly cropped shots of the 2014 Chevrolet Corvette. The video begins predictably, showing designers hard at work as they craft the life size clay model of the new Corvette…making sure not to give us enough of a look from any angle to really know what the new Corvette will look like. This somewhat slow moving introduction portion of the video leads into what looks to be the C7 Corvette on a test dyno as well as roaring along a road course – although the entire video is shot from a front-of-car perspective so cannot see any part of the new Corvette. Realistically, for all we know the camera used to shoot the track video could have been mounted to a 1987 Chevy S10…but its far more romantic to believe that we are “riding along” with the next generation Corvette.

Amongst these track clips, we get a look at a variety of different aspects of the 2014 Chevrolet Corvette including the tire/wheel package, the new slotted brake rotors, the new quad exhaust tips, the exterior mirror, the rear quarter panel, the grille filler and what looks to be a set of heat extracting louvers – presumably mounted on the hood to pull air from the next generation General Motors small block V8. The best/clearest imagery shown during this first C7 Corvette teaser video unveils the passenger side rear quarter panel, two of the bright polished exhaust tips, the exterior side-view mirror and the wheel/braking assembly …although the wheels could very well just be on the car for testing purposes. The wheels shown are black with an angular 5 unit split spoke design with a very familiar design but I cannot quite place where I have seen them before.

I have taken the liberty of capturing screen shots of the best shots of the 2014 Chevrolet Corvette and placed them in the gallery below. You can click any of the thumbnails for a closer look. Also, I have put together a list of when the 58 second video shows the various quick glimpses of the new C7 Corvette.

17 seconds – a shadowy shot down the side of the 2014 Chevrolet Corvette
22 seconds – first shot of the tire, wheel and braking assembly of the C7
23 seconds – a second wheel/tire shot
24 seconds – two men strap into race harnesses
27 seconds – the inner passenger side door panel
41 seconds – mystery louvers, possibly heat extractors on the hood
42 seconds – grille filler, presumably in the front fascia
44 seconds – blurry quad exhaust tips
46 seconds – side view mirror, clear exhaust tips, clear rear quarter panel

Finally, this first official look at the 2014 Chevrolet Corvette (albeit a true “tease” of the new sports car) ends with another look at the redesigned crossed flags logo that will appear on the C7 Corvette and the parting comment “Nothing Will Be The Same” and the hashtag #ONE13THIRTEEN – once again reminding us that the next generation Corvette will debut on January 13th, 2013 ahead of the Detroit Auto Show.
