Company CEO teases new 2012 Toyota Camry

The Toyota Camry is one of the bestselling cars in America and Toyota has hoped to begin repairing their image with the introduction of the redesigned 2012 Toyota Camry – which was recently teased in a video featuring Toyota president and CEO Akio Toyoda.

The 44 second video features 42 seconds of Akio Toyoda thanking those who buy the Camry and making promises about the 2012 Camry like the fact that it will be the “best Camry ever” and that it will “exceed all expectations”. That is all pretty vague and really offers little about the 2012 Camry but at the 28 second mark of the video, the camera pans down to Mr. Toyoda’s left side as he gestures – giving us our first look at the 2012 Toyota Camry.

This 2-second glimpse of the passenger side headlight of the 2012 Toyota Camry shows a headlight housing that is much larger and runs further into the side of the upper grille opening. Interestingly, this quick look at the 2012 Camry makes it appear as though the headlight and grille area are more upright than the current Camry models – possibly giving the next Camry a far bolder look across the front.

Mr. Toyoda also goes on to proclaim that the 2012 Toyota Camry will be a remarkable car in terms of handing, safety and fuel economy. Provided that the next Camry doesn’t succumb to unintended acceleration, that alone will make it safer than the outgoing models but with a promise of improved fuel economy, it will be interesting to see just what Toyota has up their sleeves for the next generation Toyota Camry. The Camry has long been one of the bestselling cars in America but with the recent impact on Toyota’s reputation due to 100+ deaths by unintended acceleration – along with the improvement of cars in the Camry’s class – the road to the top for the Camry will be much harder in the coming years.
